Each relay race will be different: some will be on the flat; others will include hurdles or timber typical of the hunting field; and some will be modelled after an English/Irish working hunter-style course run in mirrored pairs.

Horses and ponies of all levels are encouraged. Races will be won not necessarily by the fastest horse, but by the most clever and consistent horse and rider teams. Courses will test skill, rateability, and accuracy, and the best hand-off coordination. Team members may alternate during the series.

Please note there is a change is the point distribution:
Points will be awarded 6,3,1 —1st through 3rd place for teams that finish, 1/2 point in the event of a tie. When more than one team from a club is competing, only one team’s placings are eligible for Governor’s Cup Series points. Overall winner determined by accumulation of points in relay races; in the event of a tie, the club with the most number of wins will determine the overall winner.
